Hello Modoc! We could really use your help to get Sophie the training she needs to build her confidence and handle stress well enough to go to adoption events. We have had Sophie since November of last year! She spent a few months in Washington at one of our favorite rescues, but we had to bring her back as she did not show well in their kennels with strangers coming up and tapping on her kennel glass, and dogs barking all around her. It was just too much stimulation.

We had hoped she would do better here, but she is still not comfortable with strangers that she meets on walks or little kids running around screaming in playgrounds, and she tends to over-react when a dog corrects her for getting too close. This reactivity really limits her adoption opportunities!

Luckily, local trainer Madison Quinn has agreed to work with her at her house. Sophie's intensive "Boot Camp" style training will last 4 weeks and is going to cost $1,500 (which is a big discount off Madison's normal fee).

Sophie is a wonderful, devoted and loving dog, who aims to please, but she does not show that side of herself to strangers on walks or at adoption events, and so has no prospects. Please help us expand her horizons and understanding of the world by helping us pay for this much needed training. Sophie deserves a home!

There was someone handing out puppies at the park yesterday. We do not recommend this. Parvo is real in this town and kills dogs, puppies in the most horrendous way. Whomever took a puppy , please come and get a low cost shot certificate for parvo (DAPP) from HPHS. It’s only $20 and will help prevent sickness and death. Kitten shot certificate for FVRCP is only $15.
