“To ensure God gets the glory in our work, love must be integral to it. Paul made this painfully clear when he wrote that all of us are capable of speaking, giving, and dying so incredibly well, but with results of noise, nothingness, and no profit when love is absent (1 Cor. 13:1-3). The rest of 1 Corinthians, Paul’s other letters, the rest of the Bible, and the fact that the average person spends so many hours working leads us to conclude that work, a part of one’s worship, is to be marked by love just as much as the speaking, giving, and dying. Work has the same grave potential of ending in noise if it’s not done with love, but the same supernatural potential of mattering for an eternity.”
