Townhome/Condo vs. Single-Family Home — What’s the Real Difference?
If you’re house hunting in Central Florida, this decision comes up a lot. And it’s not just about price—it’s about lifestyle, control, and long-term costs.
Townhome or Condo:
Lower maintenance. The HOA typically handles exterior upkeep, landscaping, and sometimes even the roof.
Amenities. Pools, gyms, gated entries—things you don’t have to personally maintain.
Less responsibility… but less control. You’ll have rules (parking, rentals, exterior changes).
Monthly HOA fees. Important to factor into your budget—not all fees are created equal.
Single-Family Home:
Full control. It’s your property—paint it, rent it, modify it (within local guidelines).
More privacy. No shared walls, usually more space inside and out.
No HOA… or a lighter one. Depends on the neighborhood.
More responsibility. Lawn care, roof, AC, everything is on you.
The real question isn’t “which is better?”—it’s “which fits your lifestyle right now?”
Some buyers want low-maintenance living and predictability. Others want flexibility and long-term control.
Both can be smart moves—it just depends on your plan.
Curious which option makes more sense for your situation?

What’s your preference—low maintenance or full control?

I don't often ask for help, but I am now. I want to clear up some rumors about my employment with Seminole County Leisure Services. Contrary to the rumors, I did not retire. On February 20, 2024, I was terminated, again. I had worked in the same position with Seminole County for over 19 years. This marks the second time I was wrongfully terminated. The first time, I successfully went through the appeal process and won. However, this time, Human Resources set it up so I wouldn't have the opportunity to appeal.
This department is rife with corruption, lacking both morals and ethics. They have forced staff to hire relatives and friends, blacklisted both employees and Seminole County businesses, and have even proudly forged and created documents.
Gary Carney is running for Seminole County Commission, opposing the incumbent Andria Herr. I urge everyone to set aside partisan politics and vote for Gary Carney. I met with him early on and shared my story. He promised to do whatever he could to revisit the case, conduct his due diligence, research the history, work to reveal the truth, and bring it to a resolution.
These people took everything from me: my ability to provide for my family, my purpose, my passion, and my legacy. If you've ever participated in one of my programs while I worked for the City of Sanford or visited any of the parks I managed, you know firsthand the passion and dedication I brought to my career.
Again, I need your help and support. Please feel free to call, text, or send me a direct message if you'd like more details. In the meantime, please share this post and vote for Gary Carney, Seminole County Commissioner District 5!
Thank you, TK Kelly
