📖 About the book, Altadena Between Wilderness and City:
The Altadena Historical Society commissioned journalist, historian, and Altadena resident Michele Zack more than 20 years ago to write a comprehensive history of Altadena. The original hardcover edition featured numerous historical photographs and illustrations, many reproduced for the first time.

In celebration of its 90th anniversary, the Altadena Historical Society reissued the book in a new hardcover edition with enhanced photographs and an added reference to the Eaton Fire. The book received an Award of Excellence from the American Association for State and Local History in 2010 and was widely praised by scholars.

In this wild, unpredictable world we live in it’s nice that there is always something we can count on. Maybe acknowledging that is good enough. It’s the simple things that matter the most. In 20 years you’ll be able to look back and know you were part of town rebuilding itself. All just by showing up. Just by being.

Nature loves a vacuum, and you are what’s filling the space up here. Every Saturday matters. You being here matters. You are what the world needs more of. You are it.
