The opening of Art-Space Gallery, located at 2605 N. Lake Ave., Altadena, was a great success this past weekend, as part of the Open Studios Semi-Annual Art Tour.

For its first show, the Gallery debuted an exhibit of selected archival prints by Brian Goodman from his series “Solace of Space” and Avi Roth’s signature Coffeegraphs.

My new coffeegraph® series “Babylonia” consists of seven large prints, all printed on Canson® watercolor paper. The first release of the series is the “Land of Shinar”

The concept and main focus behind these works comes from my personal interest in the rich and exotic mythological past of the Assyrian-Mesopotamian life 4000 years ago (c. 2100 B.C.) and its parallels with our contemporary life.

The series “Babylonia” encompasses a wide rage of new techniques. But most importantly, its visual expression uses new motives with the tendency to reflect, to a significant degree, my interest in layered textures that I often use to express abstraction.

I know, they just keep coming! Another artist reception on Thursday, January 16th. If you missed the Think Tank Gallery exhibit in December, and hale ARTS space yesterday there is another chance around the corner - Dortort Center for Creativity in the Arts at UCLA Hillel!
