We’re stoked to have JAW SURF in the shop— first stock board is a fancy shmancy flax wrapped, Lakes Fish—  hand-shaped in Alpena, Michigan by Josh Weisfeld. A skilled shaper originally from Maui, Josh is now thriving amidst a new chapter in Michigan with his wife and baby boy Bodhi. He didn’t expect to find waves here, but once he did, he wasted no time setting up shop right down the road from Lake Huron. Now, he’s back to crafting 1970s-inspired boards that feel perfectly at home on the Great Lakes—giving his shapes new life in freshwater. The one we’ve got in the shop is a true reflection of his dedication to craftsmanship, performance & sustainability. The dude is taking a big, bold step in revolutionizing his board building process to do so in a more environmentally mindful manner — this beauty of a board is built with Michigan made EPS foam hotwired in house, wrapped in a combination of glass & flax with Michigan made entropy super sap bio epoxy. Paired with these unreal articulating flex keels by Korey Nolan of @hydrophilesurfcraft, this Lakes Fish is ready to take you on a journey.
