The West is breathlessly attempting to control everything in sight, an impossible task as the variables are innumerable. It is like a train going downhill at full speed. Within each carriage, the passengers feel smugly secure and are intently engaged in making the inside of the carriage ever more comfortable and pleasurable. The driver feels in control and sends reassuring messages to the passengers, despite the fact that whenever he tries to reduce speed the brakes do not respond. It never occurs to him to try to halt the train, for he still does not suspect that he has lost his brakes and all control over the locomotive. The crash is inevitable, but very few are those whose vision is clear enough to see it coming. They attempt to divert the others’ attention from their immediate pleasures and warn them of what is coming but their words remain unheard till

“…when the earth has taken on its glitter and has decked itself fair and its inhabitants think they have power over it, Our command comes upon it by night or day and We make it stubble, as though it had never flourished the day before.”
