June 20 is American Eagle Day so we thought we'd show you this seldom seen illustration from our archives. This mixed media study was apparently a mockup for the front cover of LIFE Magazine that was done in 1944. As far as we can determine from our records it was not actually used for any of the issues. Nevertheless, it is a beautiful example of Roger's talents.
