In today's Bible study, we will discuss the following, among other things: God has not banned the Israelites from salvation through faith because they rejected the Messiah, The 'remnant' according to the New Testament - Jews and Gentiles who believe in Christ, The 'elect': Not certain persons pre-selected by God to be saved, while others were created for perdition, Who really blinded the eyes of the Israelites regarding salvation, according to Old Testament prophecies, Paul's warnings against covenantal arrogance among Gentile believers against the Israelites, Paul's metaphorical illustration of God's covenantal promises for Salvation through the Messiah to the patriarchs as a tree: who are the roots and the first-fruits?, The message in the illustration, Paul's warning against rejection of Christ by the gentile believers, and God's goodness and severity explained.

The Study Of The Book Of Romans - Pt22
Rom 9:17-33

In today's Bible study, we will discuss the following, among other things: Paul's lamentation in Rom 9 is about individual Israelite's rejection of the Messiah, not of the government's (state's) rejection of Him or non-adoption of Him as a national Messiah, 'Jacob have I loved and Esau have I hated' and 'the elder will serve the younger' further explained in the light of the nation through which the Messiah would come (Israel from Jacob vs Edom from Esau) rather than the individuals themselves (both of whom were successful by all natural/material standards), Further explanation on God's dealing with Pharaoh, in view of what Paul teaches in Rom 1 regarding what happens to man when he chooses against God and refuses to repent despite being given several chances, Interpreting scriptures in the light of New Testament revelation: God did not harden Pharaoh, He gave him up to a hardened heart which he loved, when he refused to repent despite God's mercy severally extended towards him, Lesson from Pharaoh: God will no force majority of the Israelites (and other gentiles) who chose not to believe the Messiah, the same way He did not force Pharaoh - He will only persuade them like He did Pharaoh, Seeking righteousness through the works of the law - the Israelites' stumbling block.
