Wouldn't it be great, if our property taxes went down by 30% since 2019. That is what is happening for this property.

They appealed again and were granted another reduction in assessed value. So they will see their taxes drop again.

The District 158 tax rate is the lowest it has been since 2009. The rate dropped almost 8% in McHenry county, and a little over 9% in Kane county residents.

This is the biggest decrease in the rate on the McHenry county side (For District 158) I have on records going back to 2008.

We are all likely paying more still, our target was 2% increases for existing homeowners, more on that analysis on a later date. If you are paying more, its likely due to your home was assessed a higher increase than others. Industrial / Commercial properties are not seeing the increases that residential are seeing. In fact, for the second year in a row, the largest tax property in 158 has decreased in taxes paid. So the residential has to make up for that.
