Two hunters from Rayville, Louisiana, are now facing federal charges after allegedly taking 66 ducks across three trips.
Agents began monitoring a specific area after receiving tips about individuals repeatedly exceeding the daily bag limit. On January 31, enforcement officers caught the pair with 14 ducks, which led to a deeper inquiry into their activity earlier that month. It was discovered that the hunters had also harvested 28 ducks on January 24 and 24 ducks on January 25, totaling 66 birds across the three trips.
Additionally, the subjects were cited for exceeding the daily limit for pintails during their first outing. Under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, "violations of federal migratory bird regulations can result in fines up to $15,000 and imprisonment of up to six months." The case has been sent to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for prosecution in federal court.
