This recreate has me playing around with a function on most cameras called “rear sync shutter”. The effect causes a ghost-like result on a moving subject. You can get a variety of different results based on what you’re taking a photo of. What you don’t clearly see here is the timing of my movements with clicking my shutter button, so I’m sorry about that. But hopefully you get the idea.
I don’t have the data on who the original photographer of this image is or subject, so let me know if you do.

I recently took the leap of pain and invested in a Hasselblad X2D II (used to make it less ouchy). Purely for my own interest, I wanted to see if I could really notice a major difference between my Sony A7V and the Hasselblad if I kept lighting conditions the same, same settings and matched the lenses as close as possible. The only editing I did was some light skin retouching and ensured the White Balance was the same. I also cropped the Sony image to same 3x4 that Hasselblad had.
There’s more tests I want to do, but first impressions tell me that I can get very similar results with the lighting and editing in a controlled environment. But more to be done!

Today’s recreate is a one light vintage set-up of a portrait of Hedy Lamarr taken I believe by photographer Laszlo Willinger. I didn’t get the nice background spotlight effect and think it could’ve been from a second light. She looks very close to the background which is why I chose one light. But it still created some beautiful lighting on the wonderful Samira!
