Congratulations Akansha Nanda, from the 2024 Cohort of the Combined BA/MD Degree Program for receiving a Top Presentation Award in the Chemistry category at this year’s ABRCMS!

Akansha is a second-year undergraduate student in our program. She recently attended the annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minoritized Scientists (ABRCMS).

ABRCMS is a premier multidisciplinary scientific conference aimed at supporting diverse communities in STEM, particularly those historically excluded from these fields. The conference focuses on academic excellence, career development, and networking opportunities for sciences at all career stages, including community college, undergraduate, and postbaccalaureate students.

She was a participant in the Yale University summer research program in Summer 2025 and is currently searching for a research opportunity for next academic year as she is advanced in the BA/MD program curriculum.

Akansha’s experience highlights how students in the Combined BA/MD Degree Program have opportunities to engage in research, attend conferences, and present their work on national platforms, helping them build skills and networks for future careers in medicine and science.
