Old House Mining

Our 1914 home has been scouted for a set for a film for the Hallmark Channel. They would be using the exterior and interior for 3 days. It’s a small filming company from NYC. We are in Albany NY. They are insured, place down this cardboard material onto the hardwood floors, etc. but the risk for damage is very real as they bring in their equipment and stage the set. They ARE looking to use as much furniture as possible of ours and bring in props as needed. Is there anyone who has had this opportunity who can offer us advice? The rate for renting our home seens fair starting at 1000$ a day. They would be using the house for three days and said I could continue to work from home in the upstairs office. Ugh…. On the fence. The entire inside has been lovingly restored from top to bottom - a 10 year labor of love.

We have this hole in the second to last step of our >100 year old house. The steps were carpeted when I bought the home, we found this when we removed the carpet. Anyone have a good suggestion on how to fix it and keep the repair as simple as possible while still looking good. It’s on a curve which slightly complicates things.
Thanks 😊

After an absence of 239 years, I have returned to the Gloucester county, NJ town my family emigrated to in 1709. I just closed on this Queen Anne transitional built in 1901. It was an estate, so it's full of antiques, records and treasures. It's in unusually original condition and I'm looking forward to cleaning her up and bringing her back to life. Her previous owner lived here for nearly 50 years and he took great care of her until he grew frail.
I'm going to do a lot of the work myself, by necessity. What do you recommend having done professionally over doing yourself? For example, I am thinking of having the floors all redone at once as opposed to doing it by hand, room by room.
This is the beginning! I'm over the moon!

You guys! I can't make up my mind on which stain to use. HELP! From top to bottom is golden oak, red oak, Americana, and the bottom is gunstock! 🤯

This fixture was in our house when we bought it in the 70’s and we removed it when we remodeled and put up another style. I’m pretty sure this is original to the house which is over 100 years old. It’s been in storage for almost 50 years and my grandson just got it down and I cleaned it up with a mild Mr clean solution. Didn’t really try to polish up the copper or whatever the trim is. I’d just like ideas on whether to put it up in my house now (I’m tired of the silver chandelier) or sell it. I’ll try to post a picture of my dining room to see if it would fit the decor.

The old owners of our 1951 home built on top of this staircase that used to lead outside. Any ideas on what we can do with it?! It’s attached to our laundry/boiler room.

WWYD? The previous owners of our 1965 tri-level painted the tile (all of it) this god awful shade of beige. Ideally we’d be able to remove the paint but we’re expecting our 2nd kid in a couple months and it’s not in the cards. Retiling is also an option down the road. I just can’t bear the boringness! Any and all suggestions welcome! (And yes replacing the vanity and light fixture are also on the wish list. I’m trying to be patient. lol)

One more thing today . Looking for opinions. My wife and I are going to install new flooring in our kitchen , so we have to decide if we are going to keep this sink or tear it out . Everything works .
Also the porcelain has been covered and it’s peeling off . Has anyone had a sink redone that looked good ?
