One of the most important takeaways from our recent podcast episode of 3 Essential Questions was the value of creating a "safe space" for young people.
For the girls at Girls Inc of Santa Fe, this means having a place where they can navigate the tough transitions of adolescence without judgment.
Kim Brown shared how girls who have been in the program since they were five or six find a reliable community to lean on, especially during those challenging middle school years. It’s a space where they learn to build lasting friendships, handle conflict, and find their confidence, knowing they have a supportive network to catch them.

One of the most complex parts of a coming out journey can be navigating long-held family beliefs and personal faith. My guest, Doug, talked about growing up in a religious household where certain traditional values were deeply ingrained.

He described a slow process of questioning and eventually moving away from the rigid religious framework of his youth, which he found freeing. When it came to his family, he was understandably hesitant, especially after seeing a hurtful homophobic post from his father online.

However, with the help of his sister as a bridge, his parents moved from initial shock to acceptance. His dad even stands up for him now. It shows that while the initial reaction may be rooted in fear or lack of understanding, love can often pave the way for a profound shift in perspective.

A fascinating point from our recent conversation with Jonathan David Lewis of McKee Wallwork was about brand modernization. Consider a giant like Harley-Davidson. Their core customer base, the baby boomer generation, is aging. This creates a critical challenge: how do you evolve to attract younger generations without alienating the loyal following that built your brand?

This isn't just a Harley problem. Kodak, Meta, and even Google are facing similar generational shifts. It's a powerful reminder that no brand, no matter how iconic, is immune to the passage of time. The market is always changing, and identity has to shift with it or you will not remain relevant. This makes the work they are doing very important for your branding.

Are press releases obsolete in the age of influencer marketing?

We asked this very question to my guest, Krystelle Siarza Moon, a communications expert with over a decade of experience.

Her answer provided a brilliant analogy. She compared public relations tactics to cars. The traditional press release is like the "gas-powered car"—still necessary for specific situations, like SEO or communicating factual information to certain outlets.

However, the industry now has its "electric cars," which include influencer marketing, content creators, and paid media. These newer frontiers have been gaining significant ground for the last six to seven years.
The key takeaway? A successful strategy requires knowing when to "go gas" and when to "go electric," depending on your goals and audience.
