Dr. Coleman’s guest for this year’s Coleman Show at the AECOS meeting in Aspen was Geoff Tabin, MD, a physician and mountaineer with multiple Mt. Everest expeditions to his credit.
As described in his book “Blind Corners,” Dr. Tabin was the 4th person in the world to reach the summit of the highest peaks on all seven continents. He also is co-founder of the Himalayan Cataract Project and unbelievably also invented bungee jumping in the 1970’s while a student at Oxford University. It was truly a mesmerizing evening for all in the St. Regis ballroom!

iDesign LASIK is a wavefront-guided laser vision correction procedure that utilizes advanced technology to map the eye's unique optical characteristics and create a highly customized treatment plan. It offers greater precision than traditional LASIK by capturing more data points and creating a more detailed 3D map of the eye.
The iDesign Refractive Studio system that is used around the world was developed here in New Mexico at Sandia National Laboratories. Scientists eager to avoid the optical problems that nearly doomed the Hubble Space Telescope, turned to Dan R. Neal, PhD. and his team of researchers at Sandia Labs to fine-tune the giant mirror on the James Webb Telescope to ensure that it returns sharp images of the universe. Neal adapted the same technology that helps image objects in the deep space for use in an aberrometer - the iDesign instrument pictured above.
Dr. Coleman considers this to be one of the most significant advances in the nearly 3 decades that he has been performing LASIK. "It has largely fueled the excellent results and reputation that we surgeons enjoy today with modern LASIK."
