💌 Wanna Be a Craft Pen Pal? 🐝✨

Last year, I talked about doing a Christmas ornament exchange, but life got busy and it never happened.

So I started thinking… why not create a Craft Pen Pals group instead? 💕

We could mail each other little surprises that are affordable and fun, such as:
✉️ Handmade paper crafts
✉️ Stickers
✉️ Stamped images
✉️ Washi tape samples
✉️ Inspirational notes
✉️ Small crafty goodies

One of my favorite childhood memories was having a pen pal relationship with my grandpa. He lived in Arizona while I was in Ohio. I loved getting his letters, especially when he sent smiley face stickers and shared stories about flipping burgers at McDonald’s and volunteering at the zoo. Those little pieces of mail meant so much to me. 💛

I thought it would be fun for us to spread a little kindness, creativity, and happy mail while getting to know each other.

My idea is to do a monthly craft exchange with a different theme each month. 🎨📬

Sharing little bit history about New Mexico.

Yesterday was Hot Air Balloon Day so I thought of sharing what it’s all about 😄

Today is Hot Air Balloon Day! Here is a little bit of history about New Mexico’s relationship with its state aircraft.

New Mexico’s love for hot air balloons began in the 1970s. In 1973, Bill and Sid Cutter decided to gift their mother with a hot air balloon for her birthday. The balloon sparked an interest that led to New Mexico’s first balloon rally in Roswell on Thanksgiving Day; it coincided with the 1973 Wool Bowl. From there, hot air ballooning in New Mexico literally took off.

In 1973 and 1975, Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI) World Hot Air Balloon Championship, a biennial competition, was held in Albuquerque, New Mexico; over 30 competitors from 14 different countries came to compete. Although Great Britain was selected as the location for the 1977 World Hot Air Balloon Championship, New Mexico continued to celebrate the aircraft with the creation of the International Balloon Fiesta; the International Balloon Fiesta became an annual event in Albuquerque and every October the city becomes the “Balloon Capitol of the World.”

While it is the largest and most famous hot air balloon event in New Mexico, the International Balloon Fiesta is not the only one. Every year, events are held throughout the state including White Sands National Park, Taos, Raton, Angel Fire, Gallup, and Farmington. Every year balloons of every shape, size and color take to the sky throughout the state.

I was playing around with my business logo designs and decided to give it a fresh new look!

The pink logo was my original logo, and it has served me well over the years. 💕

But as my business has grown, I wanted something that reflects more of me and what I love.

So I created a new version that includes:

🐝 A bee — because “Chalky Queen Bee” is at the heart of my brand
👑 A crown — because every Queen Bee deserves one!
🐾 Paw prints — representing my fur babies who are a huge part of my life
💛 A softer, warmer color palette that feels more like my style

I feel like this new logo tells more of my story — crafting, creativity, kindness, nature, and my love for animals all wrapped into one.
