Does God punish children for the sins of their parents? Last week we said no.
But that leaves a harder question. If that’s true, why do family patterns like addiction, anger, fear, and broken relationships seem to repeat generation after generation.
Is that a generational curse?
Yesterday Pastor Jon walked through Galatians 3 and showed us something freeing. Jesus already took on the full weight of the curse at the cross. There is nothing left for us to track down or pay off. The New Testament never tells us to dig through our family tree looking for hidden spiritual issues. It just points us to Jesus.
A pattern in your family is not the same as a prophecy over your life. You can be shaped by what you watched growing up without being cursed by it. Even Jesus’ own family tree was full of broken, flawed people, and God still wrote the greatest redemption story through it.
Your family history may explain you. It doesn’t have to define you.
The cross is greater than your family tree.

You don’t have to have it all figured out.
Nephilim. Apocryphal books. Ancient mysteries the Bible barely mentions. It’s tempting to chase every thread, but Scripture was never meant to satisfy our curiosity about everything unseen. It was given to reveal Jesus.
God didn’t leave us guessing on what matters most. He providentially preserved and canonized His Word so we could know Him, not so we’d have every mystery solved.
So wrestle with the questions. Stay curious. But anchor your trust in the One who is fully knowable, not the things that aren’t.
