CHERP is happy to celebrate Pride not just for one month but all year! We hold space and inclusion for all. The CHERP core values include having compassion for ourselves and all our relatives. We encourage you to embody that same practice within your communities as well. Making our world a more accepting and kinder place ensures we can embody our authentic selves in a safe environment.

“Man up.” “Tough it out.” “Shake it off.” These statements are often heard by boys to suppress their emotions. The social expectations of many communities discourage men from expressing their emotions and is often viewed as a weakness. This stigma discourages our sons, brothers, dads, uncles, grandpas, and other male relatives to suffer in silence. It comes with the challenge to reach out for help. According to the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention, men are almost four times more likely to die by su***de than women. This month let’s learn how to help turn this around.

CHERP is hosting a training in the Kewa Community! Our safeTALK Su***de Prevention Training is a tool that community members can use for situations where talk of su***de may be present. This is great for educators, tribal leadership, public health workers and all caring adults in the community.
