This week I was commissioned to paint a scene from the film .movie for a friend. The film is incredible if you haven’t seen it and I couldn’t think of just one shot but instead the climax of the film.
I completed a 9 x12 Watercolor piece and loved how it turned out. I may have to try something like this again with the panels.

Overview
Andrew Neiman (Miles Teller) is an ambitious young jazz drummer, in pursuit of rising to the top of his elite music conservatory. Terence Fletcher (J.K. Simmons), an instructor known for his terrifying teaching methods, discovers Andrew and transfers the aspiring drummer into the top jazz ensemble, forever changing the young man’s life. But Andrew’s passion to achieve perfection quickly spirals into obsession, as his ruthless teacher pushes him to the brink of his ability and his sanity.

I was inspired by Robert Eggers and was inspired to try and paint a portrait of and Bill Skarsgards Count Orlock. This film was captivating, and that cinematography like a motion painting.
About the piece, I miss doing watercolor piece and I’m enjoying the process again. After not using watercolor paints for a while I’m a bit rusty, but the lighting on her face is great and of course she’s framed around the enormous frame of the vampire.
Great film, not a bad painting.
