Northern Montgomery County in central North Carolina...

East central Stanly County in central North Carolina...
* Until 1100 AM EDT.
* At 1036 AM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a
tornado was located over Badin Lake, moving northeast at 50 mph.
HAZARD...Tornado.
SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.
IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree
damage is likely.
* This dangerous storm will be near...
Badin Lake around 1040 AM EDT.
Seagrove around 1050 AM EDT.
Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include
Steeds, Eldorado, Star, Ulah, and Morrow Mountain State Park.
This includes Interstate 73 between Mile Markers 50 and 71.
TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a
mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter
and protect yourself from flying debris.
Motorists should not take shelter under highway overpasses. If you
cannot safely drive away from the tornado, as a last resort, either
park your vehicle and stay put, or abandon your vehicle and lie down
in a low lying area and protect yourself from flying debris.

On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, the RACE-CARS Trial out of Duke University is attempting to set the CPR world record by training 30,000 people in Hands-Only CPR across 30 participating counties in North Carolina.

As we step into a new year, we want to take a moment to look back at the incredible work our dedicated crews performed throughout 2025. Serving our community is our highest honor, and the numbers reflect the hard work and commitment of our team to keep Stanly County safe.
In 2025, Stanly County EMS responded to a total of 16,587 calls for service! Here is a breakdown of our activity:
13,567 Scene Calls: Our paramedics and EMTs were on the front lines, providing advanced life-support care directly at the scene of emergencies.
3,020 District Standby Calls: To ensure we are always in the best position to reach you quickly, our units performed over 3,000 strategic standbys to minimize response times across the county.
We are incredibly proud of our teamβs dedication to providing high-quality, compassionate care 24/7, 365 days a year.

Josiah has been a dedicated member of Stanly County EMS since 2020, serving with excellence as a Lieutenant and Field Training Officer. With previous experience from other EMS agencies, Josiah brings a wealth of clinical knowledge and leadership to every role he takes on.
In his new position, Josiah will continue his mission of Mobile Integrated Healthcare (MIH) focusing on connecting patients to the right care, reducing hospital readmissions, and improving overall community health. His passion for service and healing embodies the very best of what it means to be a community paramedic.
