Just two days away! Please join us on Friday February 6th, from 4:30pm to 6:30pm, for the opening of David Brickman’s photography exhibition, “Neighborhood Abstracts”, showcasing his latest body of works; street photography inspired by abstract expressionism and minimalism. This is a “First Friday Albany” art event.

We are restoring the facade of 376-378 Broadway back to its original historical storefront and providing much needed repairs to the brickwork, windows, lintels and cornice. 376-378 Broadway, built in 1849, is currently home to McGreevy ProLab & ProPress, a professional quality photo lab and digital press printing service which has been in business for over 35 years and at this location for 30 years.

Albany Artisans () - Christopher Hacker and his crew are top notch craftsmen who specialize in the restoration and revival of historic homes and buildings. With numerous awards and accolades, they bring years of expertise to the project. They have been instrumental in the planning phase and are now making the magic happen.

John G. Waite Architects () - Call it a stroke of luck to have one of the nation’s leading historic preservation architecture firms as a neighbor. John G. Waite Associates have taken an enthusiastic interest in this project from its earliest stages. They have been gracious with their time and expertise, providing important research, architectural renderings, and artistic vision.

Capitalize Albany Corporation ()- Significant funding provided by the “City of Albany Small Business Facade Improvement Program” and “Downtown Albany Retail Grant Program”. It is these grant initiatives that have allowed us to move forward with this project. Capitalize Albany has been encouraging and supportive throughout.

1/2: Thank you to everyone who showed up and participated in our first ever photo walk! It was truly a great time, and we hope we can sponsor community photography events like this in the future.

An event like this was possible because of our film processing happining in-house. Participants were led by Phil Caruso (.caruso) and his son Vincent Caruso () to shoot rolls of HP5 around beautiful downtown Albany. After their walk, the film was brought back to McGreevy ProLab for processing. It takes about an hour to process, and then after a few random roll were selected for review and critique.

So many amazing photos were captured. The scope of talent and varied perspective in the Albany area runs deep, and it show here! This is the first round of images we’re sharing from this event, with more coming next week.
