☀️ July is UV Safety Month! As you enjoy the sunshine, remember to protect your skin and eyes. Small steps can make a big difference.

Here are some simple UV safety tips to keep in mind:
🧴 Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher
🕶️ Wear sunglasses that block UVA and UVB rays
👒 Use a hat and lightweight protective clothing when possible
🌳 Seek shade, especially in the middle of the day.
💧 Stay hydrated

Every story has the power to inspire. As Disability Pride Month continues, we're honored to share the experiences of our members and celebrate the unique journeys that have shaped who they are. Today, we're featuring Ben Stofsky.

For Ben, the Special Olympics has been about so much more than competition — it's been a journey of confidence, friendship and personal growth.

Ben began participating in North East Westchester Special Recreation at just 6 years old and started competing in Special Olympics track and field by age 10. Over the years, he expanded into basketball, softball, soccer and floorball, building skills both on and off the field.

In 2025, Ben and his North East Special Olympics floorball team had the incredible honor of representing Team USA at the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Turin, Italy, where they brought home a bronze medal. Meeting athletes from around the world gave Ben friendships that still continue today.
