6/14/2025 – This is not a land of kings 🚫👑

Being here in SF these past three weeks covering Harvey in “Harvey Milk Reimagined” with has been both a huge honor and a distinct challenge. Finding the balance of celebrating this great icon and activist of the q***r liberation movement, while also grappling with the direct attacks being made on our existence by those in the highest positions of authority in our government—these experiences remind me why we keep doing our work. As they attempt to erase us—literally, in the case of the USNS Harvey Milk being stripped of its name during the FIRST WEEK of Pride month, among countless other disgraceful actions being taken by he who must not be named and his ilk—we will continue to sing Harvey’s name and tell his story, loudly and proudly. Harvey says it best in the show: “And the lies we told our mothers turned to shame, and shame to rage, and rage to pride, and pride to hope. And hope will never be silent.”

Come for us. Attempt to erase us; we will continue existing. Attempt to silence us; we will keep singing. Attempt to scare us; we will continue celebrating and caring for each other.
