We were thrilled to host Dr. Ella Zeldich from Boston University today! She gave a terrific talk on "Dissecting neuronal and glial dysfunction in Down Syndrome using human Organoid Models".

TODAY at - Dr. Sally Temple will present the closing keynote lecture.

Her talk will discuss how our team uses patient- and donor-derived stem cells and technology to create models of the human brain and eye. These models are essential to improve understanding of diseases like ’s and age-related , leading to better therapeutics. She will also highlight our preclinical-stage gene therapy for FTD-tau and clinical-stage adult stem cell-derived RPE therapy for treatment of dry AMD.

TODAY at the Retinal Therapeutics Innovation Summit hosted by & , Dr. Jeff Stern will be speaking in a session on stem cell therapies.

In dry Age-related (AMD), retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) cells that are essential for retinal function and central vision are lost. Our approach for AMD therapy uses adult stem cell-derived RPE cells to replace these cells. Dr. Jeffrey Stern will present results from our Phase 1/2a clinical trial testing safety and tolerability of RPESC-RPE in dry AMD patients.

Available now Cell Reports Medicine: β€œIND-enabling Safety and Efficacy of RPESC-RPE-4W, an Adult RPE Progenitor Cell Therapy for Dry Age-related Macular Degeneration.” This paper describes the pathway to an Investigational New Drug (IND) allowance from the FDA, a prerequisite for our ongoing clinical trial. Strong preclinical safety and efficacy, along with GMP process development and promising clinical results, also contributed to designation from the FDA in 2025.
