SUNY Cortland officially cut the ribbon on Friday, March 27, celebrating the completion of a major renovation of Cornish and Van Hoesen Halls on the SUNY Cortland campus. The two‑and‑a‑half‑year, $27 million project included extensive interior and exterior renovations, expanding space and centralizing student services.
The project focused on Wing C of Cornish Van Hoesen Hall, upgrading facilities for the Communication and Media Studies Department and consolidating program spaces to support current campus needs. Renovations included new finishes, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems, along with a new entrance addition featuring an elevator and stair tower to improve accessibility and connectivity to the Quad.

The work of this single bid project includes: a. Replacement of all existing windows; b. Upgrading the building’s mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems; c. Retention of the brick pier façade with the addition of new glazing; d. Demolition and reconstruction of interior areas to create updated layouts, including new partitions, finishes, and circulation paths; e. Installation of a geothermal well field and connection to a new heating and cooling system; f. Building envelope improvements; g. Full systems replacement; h. Interior renovation; i. Integration of new geothermal infrastructure.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony: Foster Hall, University at Buffalo
President Satish K. Tripathi (first photo) celebrated the grand reopening of Foster Hall on Friday, February 27, 2026, on the University at Buffalo’s South Campus, marking the return of the Graduate School of Education to its original home. The historic 1921 building was fully renovated and restored, transforming it into a modern hub for learning, research, and collaboration.
The project achieved LEED Gold certification and included new building systems, stairways, an elevator, a slate roof, updated windows and doors, and site improvements with new landscaping and an accessible plaza.

Scope: The work of this single bid project includes: a. Abatement of EPDM roofing system; b. Installation of modified bitumen roofing system; c. Extension of existing roof exhaust; d. Installation of curbing for future use; e. Replacement of existing roof drainage and limited internal drainage system; f. Installation of fall protection system; g. New ladders and walk pads.
