Scams are on the rise—and if you or someone you love has been affected, you’re not alone. It can feel overwhelming, but there are trusted resources that can help you take the next step.

Here are a few places to start:

• FTC Fraud Reporting: https://reportfraud.ftc.gov/
• FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3): https://www.ic3.gov/
• Identity Theft Recovery: https://www.identitytheft.gov/
• AARP Fraud Watch Network: https://www.aarp.org/money/scams-fraud/helpline/

Reporting fraud quickly can make a big difference in protecting your identity and finances.

With National Senior Fraud Awareness Day coming up on May 15, we want to help our community in Albany and across the mid-Willamette Valley stay informed and protected.

Here are a few common scams we’re seeing right now:

• Tech support scams – Someone claims there’s an issue with your device and asks for remote access or payment. These are almost always fake.

• Medicare or government impersonation – Scammers pretend to be from Medicare or Social Security to collect personal information. Legitimate agencies will not ask for this through unsolicited calls, texts, or emails.

• Family imposter scams – A caller pretends to be a loved one in trouble and pressures you to send money quickly.

• Prize or lottery scams – You’re told you’ve “won,” but must pay a fee to claim it. Real winnings don’t require upfront payments.

• Romance or investment scams – Someone builds trust online, then asks for money or financial access.

If something feels off, trust your instincts and don’t rush. And if you ever have questions about Medicare-related calls, plans, or communications, our team at Corwin Insurance Agency is here to help you sort through what’s real and what’s not.

Have you or a loved one encountered a suspicious call or message lately? Feel free to share or reach out—we’re always happy to help.
