Dogs are naturally curious, and that curiosity often leads them to sniff, chew, and even snack on household plants. Many common houseplants, garden flowers, succulents, and even outdoor shrubs contain toxins that can be dangerous to dogs if ingested. It’s essential to know which plants to avoid and what symptoms to watch out for in case of accidental ingestion.

Keep your beloved animals safe; never ever leave them in a vehicle on a warm day!!

Important Safety Reminder – Keep Our Pets Safe.

Last week, our Animal Control Officers responded to a call about a dog panting inside of a locked car. On this particular day, temperatures reached 86 degrees. When they arrived, officers found a large dog inside of a vehicle with the windows slightly down. Using a thermometer, it was determined that the interior temperatures exceeded 115 degrees, even with some ventilation.

Thankfully, our team was able to safely rescue the dog and provide it with water and a cool place to rest. After about 25 minutes, the owner returned and was made aware of the serious dangers their pet was in.

As we expect to experience higher temperatures this week, please remember: NEVER leave animals or children alone in a vehicle, even for a “short” time. Internal temperatures can rise dangerously fast in a matter of minutes. Thank you for working together to keep our furry friends and loved ones safe.
