Announcement: ChickLits is taking a brief hiatus over the summer months, and our May meeting discussing Mass Incarceration will be postponed until the Fall.

It may look from the outside perspective and on social media that I (Jillian) have been kicking ass, (WAHOO 3.9 GPA!) However, what you don't see is that I have also been kicking my own ass. My 150% over the last 10 months have left me mentally, physically, and spiritually depleted. For self cares sake, I need a rest period and have chosen to honor that. I am turning 30 next week, and am beginning a new chapter in my life with a solo trip to New York City to kick off the next decade ISO a path that will lead me to a place of permanent healing in my journey to peace with food and body image after a heartbreaking relapse in my eating disordered behaviors. I know it seems like a big thing to share on the internet, but I wanted to be vulnerable and real with each of you because ChickLits brings truth to the table. THAT'S JUST WHAT WE DO. There is so much power and beauty in that each month how we all have one another's backs and share our truths and build each other up. Just like the Redwood Trees who don't let each other fall down. The first time I went to treatment, the books I read were what saved me, what changed my life for the better, and I plan to read abundantly all summer long in hopes that they will have the same effect as I go through the healing process.

Thank you all so much for always supporting the book club and also for always supporting me personally. You are all free to focus on your own unique to-be-read piles, and I wish for each of you a wonderful summer spent with friends, family, and an abundance of good things. See you in the Fall to discuss Nico Walker's 'Cherry' as a better and healthier me. Love you all forevvvveeerrrr. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

It’s kind of hard to tell, but the cake is in the shape of a book! Two years! It’s been truly one of the most rewarding things in my life thus far, and I am so grateful for all of the wonderful people I have met. I am also grateful for all of the continuous support from members, artists, and the organizations we have collaborated with encouraging reading, connection, growth, and helping others in the 330!
