Clyde was back with us recently for some boarding while his humans took a trip 💚
For those of you that don’t know about Clyde, it’s important to know three things: He’s a rescue bait dog, he is scared of mice & loud noises and he’s the sweetest bean you’ll ever meet as long as you’ve earned his trust.
We have been working consistently with Clyde for the last 3 years. When we first met him he was freshly in his forever home but had no ability to regulate himself. He would pace and wasn’t able to relax or trust his surroundings and he was resource guarding certain members of the family. Clyde also had issues around other dogs (understandably so considering he was the dog used to make fighting dogs confident).
His first summer stay with us gave us a good look into how he acted around storms, fireworks and other loud noises. We absolutely couldn’t take him outside if any of those things were happening and he absolutely could not be around any other dogs safely.
After consistent, patient work he is now able to regulate himself around those same noises that used to make him hide and p*e. It’s so rewarding for us to see how far Clyde has come. To get pictures of him sleeping soundly without a care in the world. This year he confidently took walks outside to do his business even amidst fireworks and pop up thunderstorms.
When he boards with us, he is able to be around our trained dogs without trying to take them out because he thinks they’re a threat. Does that mean Clyde could live in a home with another pup safely? No, it’s just not how he’s built, BUT when it comes to stints of safe and calm socialization he absolutely can now 🥹.
And those scars on his body? They’re just a reminder of how strong and resilient he is despite what he’s been through. Rescues take time, patience and consistent work and it’s worth every ounce of effort every single time.

A calm, confident, well mannered puppy is always the goal for any family we partner with.
To be so comfy that your puppy falls asleep practicing some patience training on your spot is the best feeling ever. We always let them sleep when this happens. No jarring them awake because it’s the middle of a training session.
Stevie took a little cat nap, woke up, went outside, and we got right back to work.
What we do for your furry friends isn’t simply black and white. Our goal is always a happy, confident, well regulated kiddo who listens to every word you say. We make sure to get there the healthiest way possible for their mind, body and sweet souls ⭐️🐾
