Jack of Hearts

We were at Highfields waiting on the cross-rails division when the prettiest loose pony galloped past. The caramel colored dappled pony with a thick black tail was going all out until he came to a skidding stop with low wicker right next to F***y.

Crap. That’s MY pony! Who was supposed to be eating at the trailer….

And that’s how I pictured him when he left us yesterday. Able to freely gallop again without the pain that has been crippling him for months, but probably just trying to get to his love F***y as fast as possible.

Jack was all heart in his little body. He determinedly taught his students with a series of tests and tricks, but was never mean. He did not shy away from affection-horse or human. He also loved to jump and mostly he loved to eat.

He never lost his bit of anxiety from whatever had happened to him long before I bought him from a lady I met in a diner on my birthday, but he clearly came to trust me and it was a privilege and a gift to be his friend.
