Recently, I shared this metaphor with someone I was supporting, and I keep thinking about how relevant it is for so many of us.
It’s called the 212° principle.
Water heats up gradually from 211° to 212°, but that one extra degree changes everything. At 211°, it’s just hot. At 212°, it boils—and creates steam powerful enough to move engines.
The reminder?
Sometimes progress isn’t about doing something completely different—it’s about adding just a little more.
A little more focus.
A little more consistency.
A little more intention.
That “extra degree” might be:
• Following up on the opportunity
• Refining how you tell your story
• Showing up even when it feels uncomfortable
And that’s often what creates momentum.
If you’ve been wondering what’s missing… it might not be a full overhaul. It might just be your next degree. 📌
What’s one area where you can add a little more this week?

Hey! What do you think these three activities have in common?
• Preparing for a job interview
• Getting ready for a graduate school interview
• Reaching out to a potential mentor, supervisor, or collaborator about joining a new project, lab, or team
Each one requires you to clearly communicate your experience, skills, and potential.
That’s why I teach my clients how to use the S.T.A.R. Method.
The S.T.A.R. framework helps you turn experiences into clear, compelling stories — whether you’re answering interview questions, writing application materials, or introducing yourself in professional spaces.
It’s a tool I never leave out of my coaching sessions because it creates clarity, confidence, and consistency.
If you’d like a copy of my S.T.A.R. Method Interview Cheat Sheet, send me a private message.
And if you’re considering coaching, let’s chat.
