“I haven’t met a man who’s on my level.”

A woman said this to me not long ago.

And she wasn’t being cruel or arrogant. She was being real. Frustrated. Honest.

She meant emotionally. Spiritually. Maybe even intellectually.

And I get it. Especially for high-achieving, emotionally aware women, it can feel like you’re the one always doing the work. The one always reaching deeper. Communicating better. Processing faster.

But it made me think…

Men rarely say that about women.

I’ve never heard a guy say, “She’s not on my level physically.” Even though, let’s be honest, he's stronger, faster, and usually taller than most women.

So when she gets emotional in a disagreement, I don’t expect her to argue like a man or stay perfectly calm like I might.

Instead, I adjust. I lead. I stay grounded. I make room for the differences. I look for ways to meet her emotionally.

Because I don’t want her to be like me. I want her to be herself. That’s part of what draws me in.

So it raises the question:
Are men really supposed to be on your level emotionally?

And what if… they aren’t?

What if you’re always going to be the one who’s more emotionally fluent.

More intuitive, more reflective, more able to name what’s happening in the moment?

Is that proof that he’s not a good fit for you?

And if you're only meeting and dating men that are dishonest.
Don't keep their word or blame you for their failures.

Then, I wonder. Maybe the reason these men keep showing up isn't because of them.

Maybe, just maybe…it's worth a look inside to see why this keeps happening to you.

Just a thought.

Warmly,
Bob Grant
