Taking things serious this time. Never checked gravity on any of my beers before.

This is a hydrometer and it's used for measuring specific gravity of fluids.

In our case, it will help us see how much sugar was in the wort before and after fermenting which will tell us roughly how much alcohol it has. This also helps to make recipes repeatable as you can record the gravity before fermenting everytime to make sure it's the same.

Like cocktails and jiggers, consistency means quality.
