PMU pigments and tattoo inks are not two completely separate categories. They’re both inks designed to implant pigment into the skin.

What we often call a “PMU pigment” usually refers to an ink formulated to heal softer, fade more gradually, or implant differently. What we call a “tattoo ink” often refers to formulations that are more vibrant, more durable, or easier to implant.

The difference is not that one is a pigment and the other is an ink. The difference is where they fall on the formulation spectrum—determined by the pigments, binders, dispersion systems, solvents, and preservatives used.

Different formulations. Different purposes. One goal: coloring the skin.

A spectrum, not a separate category.
