This is the type of magnet I use on the cabinets here at the rescue to keep the ferrets from opening them. You can adjust how difficult or easy it is to open the cabinet. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Mousike-Cabinet-Magnets-30lb-Black-Door-Magnets-with-Strong-Magnetic-for-Kitchen-Cupboard-Wardrobe-Closet-Cabinet-Door-Drawer-Latch-4-Pack/827644469

Waardenburg Syndrome is usually linked to high amounts of white markings. [White markings on the upper head (blaze and panda) are always WS.] It’s a genetic defect that has a range of severity. It can range from very mild with minimal symptoms to severe.

Symptoms may include: deafness, cranial defects, broad skull, wider set eyes (think Down Syndrome), and gastrointestinal problems. In ferrets with WS, there may be mental deficits, behavioral differences, lack of appropriate social skills, and/or abnormal gait, among other symptoms. WS ferrets also tend to have more health problems and a shorter lifespan.

You can have a “Waardy” without white markings and a ferret with white markings that isn't. You can also have some of these features without WS too, such as a deaf ferret that doesn’t have WS.
Waardenburg Syndrome is a genetic condition known as a neural crest disorder. There are other types of neural crest defects. In ferrets, all neural crest defects tend to be lumped into the category of WS. This is due to little research (and no testing available to owners) to differentiate between other causes of neural crest defects/syndromes in ferrets.
