Fireplaces and built-ins are one of our favorite ways to add character, function, and a truly custom feel to a home.

One of my favorite design tricks is taking something mass-produced and making it look like it was built specifically for the home.

This client needed additional storage for kitchen overflow, but custom cabinetry wasn’t in the budget. Instead, we started with a prefab pantry cabinet and elevated it with custom trim work, crown molding, integrated lighting, a wood countertop, and thoughtful installation details.

The result? A piece that looks like it has always belonged there while adding a significant amount of functional storage.

This now serves as a pantry, coffee station, serving buffet, and sideboard all in one.
