Attention Landscape Lovers: As you may be aware the winter moths are active. We are having the perfect conditions for these little moths to hatch. Unfortunately they will become those little green caterpillars that eat our trees and shrubs. In the past we have had green caterpillars called canker worms that eat our landscapes but these are different. Unlike canker worms that hatch after the leaves have a head start these insects hatch earlier. The are smaller at first and crawl between the layers of the buds and start feeding. By the time the leaves come out the caterpillars have the upper hand. If you have a slow start to spring the trees leaf out with holes in them already!!! By the time most people notice them it's a mess with thousands of little green caterpillars hanging from their trees and black messy droppings everywhere. We suggest if this is a potential problem give us a call, text, or e-mail us to discuss all the environmentally responsible options. There are some inexpensive choices that you might try yourself. But there are many things they sell that don't work so good so do some research or hire a professional that is licensed and insured for this job.
