The rough patches, the imperfections, the extra work I create for myself — that's the old me fighting to stay in control. But praise God, He doesn't leave us jagged and unfinished.
The Bible says, "I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me" (Galatians 2:20).
Every pass with the sander is like the Holy Spirit gently (and sometimes not so gently) smoothing out my pride, my anger, my laziness, and my excuses. The work is hard, dusty, and repetitive — just like real sanctification.
If you're battling yourself today, surrender it. Jesus is better at finishing the job than we ever will be.
"Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." (Philippians 1:6)
Who else relates? Drop a 🙌 if you're letting God sand down your rough edges.
Your life is a rough, unfinished house—walls full of gaps, cracks, and mess. You’ve tried cheap patches that never hold.
Then the Master Drywaller shows up. Jesus.
He hangs new sheets of rock over the old mess—His perfect covering (salvation by faith). It’s heavy work you can’t do alone.
Next He tapes every seam and hole with grace, applying thin layers of forgiveness and truth. Messy at first.
Then comes the sanding—trials and conviction that smooth out the pride, anger, and selfishness. It’s uncomfortable, but necessary.
Finally, He primes and paints with His righteousness. The walls look brand new. Strong. Peaceful. Whole.
You can’t even tell where the old brokenness ended. The house is transformed, and the Master lives there now.
It’s not a quick cover-up. It’s a full renovation that lasts.

This job involved replacing 2 rotten fence posts to help extend the life of the existing fence and restore its strength and stability.
