"AFIRD held a Women and Youth Farmers' Pitching Day in Nagalama-Nakifuma Town Council under the Agroecology for Employment project, funded by Ambassade de France en Ouganda - Embassy of France in Uganda. Women and youth showcased their agroecological businesses. All five project groups received startup capital in the form of materials needed for their enterprises."

AFIRD acknowledges the difficulties that communities encounter in raising healthy children, which has influenced various AFIRD initiatives, including Nutritional Days in schools.

The importance of Nutrition Days for school communities is significant, as these events act as a catalyst for raising health awareness and cultivating lifelong healthy eating habits among students. Nutrition Days offer an engaging platform for students, teachers, and parents to participate in activities that emphasize the value of balanced diets and the advantages of consuming diverse nutrients.

These events typically feature workshops, cooking demonstrations, and educational games that make learning about nutrition enjoyable and accessible. By getting involved, students better understand how their food choices affect their energy, focus, and overall well-being, which can lead to enhanced academic performance and a more positive school atmosphere.

Furthermore, Nutrition Days promote a sense of community by uniting various groups within the school to work towards a common objective: improving the health and wellness of all participants. This collaboration can inspire beneficial changes in the school's meal programs and encourage healthier options in cafeterias, ultimately fostering a supportive environment for both mental and physical well-being.

Including parents in these events also broadens the scope of nutritional education beyond the classroom, motivating families to embrace healthier eating habits at home. This comprehensive approach ensures that the lessons learned during Nutrition Days leave a lasting impression, empowering students to make informed choices throughout their lives.

AFIRD with Funding from Bread for the world, in partnership with JANGU International brings you 11 permaculture school clubs of 15 pupils from 11 primary schools in Mpigi district -Mawokota North Constituency sharing rich different experiences in permaculture principles and practices International in Mpigi town council!
