Ashura is the 10th day of Muharram, the first month in the Islamic calendar. The word translates to "the tenth" in Arabic. It is a highly significant day in Islam.
Ashura is primarily a day of optional, highly recommended fasting. It commemorates the day Allah (God) parted the Red Sea, saving Prophet Musa (Moses) and the Israelites from the Pharaoh. Prophet Muhammad observed this fast and encouraged his followers to do so, explaining that it atones for the sins of the previous year. To distinguish Muslim practice from others, it is recommended to fast on the 9th and 10th of Muharram (or the 10th and 11th).
Just in case you didn't manage to fast, you can at least engage your self in other beneficial activities like zikir, good behavior, And also among the best is charity. We can use this chance to donate towards our end of year charity drive
