|| Forgive and move on ||

In the Gospel of Luke 15:1–32, Jesus tells the powerful story of the Prodigal Son.

Even when the son had wandered far and made mistakes, the father welcomed him back with open arms. No anger. No rejection. Just love, restoration, and a fresh start.

Forgiveness doesn’t erase the past, but it frees the heart for a new beginning.

The Scripture says, “This is the day that the Lord has made . . .” (Psalm 118:24 esv).

Every morning, you have a choice. You can rise with your thoughts set on all you have to do that day. You can get up, magnifying the big problem you’ll be facing at work. Or you can get up with a heart filled with gratitude that you get to have one more day on this Earth and with eyes looking for good things. Eyes that magnify God’s goodness and power to carry you through.

Christmas Day at St Andrew’s Cathedral, Mbale

Rt Rev John Wilson Nandah, Bishop of the Diocese of Mbale, welcomed the congregation and thanked them for supporting God’s work. He said, “We thank God for giving us His Son. Where would we be without the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ? Whatever God announces shall come to pass, indeed.”

He reminded us that Jesus was foretold in the Scriptures by Prophet Micah 5:2 and in Isaiah 9:6, and appealed to all to embrace Him, allowing Him to reign in our lives.

Bishop Nandah gave a brief background of Joseph and Mary’s journey to Bethlehem for the census, after the decree from King Censor, and recalled Mary’s labour pains and Joseph’s search for a place to stay.

He quoted Galatians 5:16, urging the faithful to live by the Spirit, not by the flesh. He encouraged the church to live responsibly, avoid reckless spending, and for married couples to spend quality time with their families rather than loitering on this Christmas day, especially the men.

Bishop Nandah assured Christ’s followers that the forthcoming elections will be peaceful, laughing at those who predict war. He urged voters to cast their ballots responsibly, obey electoral laws, and called on aspiring candidates to accept the results graciously.

He concluded by wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, may the year bring love, peace, joy, and prosperity to all the faithful.
