🐝 Leadership in Action: Nabakyala Grace’s Beekeeping Journey in Kalebera A
Meet Grace, the Nabakyala of Kalebera A—a woman whose leadership is transforming lives through Dharmic Uganda’s honey beekeeping initiative. As a respected voice in her local council, Grace saw the potential of beekeeping not just as a livelihood, but as a tool for community empowerment.
After completing training supported by World Connect and Honey Bee Products Uganda, Grace mobilized fellow women to join the project. She began with three transitional top bar hives and now manages ten, producing high-quality honey that sells in local markets. Her earnings have enabled her to pay school fees for her grandchildren, invest in household improvements, and support other women through savings groups.
Grace’s influence goes beyond her own success. She regularly hosts community sensitization meetings, mentors new beekeepers, and advocates for women’s inclusion in local decision-making. Her story is a powerful example of how traditional leadership, when paired with opportunity, can spark lasting change.
This is what grassroots resilience looks like—led by women, fueled by honey, and driven by purpose.

Exciting News!
As the economic empowerment project through beekeeping kicked off early this year, we are thrilled to share that 10 Trainers of Trainers (TOT) in Kabembe rural community, Mukono district successfully completed their training in KTB beehive making.
It’s been an incredible journey watching these dedicated individuals grow their expertise as they support and train fellow low income earning women in their community to creat their own beehives and be able to enroll and keep their children in school.
A big shout out to World Connect for their invaluable support in making this project a reality. Together we are making a positive impact and empowering communities one beehive at a time.
