Making a Bold Statement for Safe Water in Nabingo. Village.
During yesterday's visit to the safe water well construction site, a significant moment unfolded. Tom Baltutis alongside volunteers from Mercy Scouts and a dedicated team of Danish volunteers, were warmly welcomed by the community. We all had hands on to build the well. our collaborative spirit underscored a crucial message:
The water crisis extends far beyond basic necessities like drinking, cooking, and hygiene. It severely impacts food security, livestock health, income-generating activities, and the community's overall capacity for sustainable development.
Transformative Impact:
With access to cleaner, reliable water, the incidence of waterborne diseases—such as diarrhea, cholera, and typhoid—is expected to see a significant reduction.
A conversation with a 15-year-old in the village highlighted the most profound change: time. As she shared: "A close, reliable water source will return something I have never truly had: time. Time to study. Time to rest. Time to play. Time to be a child again."
The hours many children currently spend walking long distances and waiting in line for water are hours spent dreaming of a different life—one where water is accessible, safe, and easy to collect.
Together, we are restoring stolen child livelihoods, one clean water well at a time.
