World AIDS Day 2025 Details
World AIDS Day is an annual international event observed on December 1st to raise awareness of the AIDS pandemic, honor those affected, and recommit to ending the epidemic by 2030.
Global Theme: "Overcoming disruption, transforming the AIDS response".
Uganda's Local Theme: “Take the Rights Path: My Health, My Right!”.
Hosts/Organizers: The day is coordinated globally by organizations such as the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), the World Health Organization (WHO), and local health ministries/commissions. In Uganda, the primary organizer is the Uganda AIDS Commission (UAC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, other government entities (like the Uganda Virus Research Institute), and international partners.
Partners: Key partners include the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria, PEPFAR (US President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief), and various civil society and community-led organizations.
