Meet Eric, a fifth-generation farmer managing over 300 heads of cattle on 427 acres of land on a free range. With a deep passion for farming, Eric’s experience with cows is extensive and hands-on. He holds agriculture-related degrees, as do his father and sister, who graduated from Cornell University and Morrisville State College, respectively. For Eric, dairy farming is more than a tradition; it's a business. His farm's herd produces an average of 75 pounds of milk per cow each day, with individual cows capable of producing over 100 pounds daily. During a visit to his farm, Eric was impressed with the technology we’ve developed and enthusiastically offered his farm as a pilot site for our innovations in Tompkins County in New York.

Is Africa Ready to Embrace the Future of Artificial Intelligence in livestock
The current landscape of tech evolution shows that Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a key force with global ramifications. Its influence is markedly evident in Africa, where the adoption and integration of AI technologies are reshaping economic, social, and political dimensions.
Africa stands to gain a substantial share of this economic impact, with an estimated $1.2 trillion attributed to the continent. This forecast indicates a notable 5.6% rise in Africa's GDP by 2030. This means that using AI correctly could revolutionize how we offer services, making them better and more affordable for a larger number of people.
The agricultural sector is benefiting from AI as a supportive tool for resource management. Startups such as Jaguza Tech use machine learning algorithms for drones to detect and count cows from aerial imagery, automating cattle counting with accurate AI models. The Jaguza Tech drone system is composed of three main components: (1) cattle detection, (2) cattle tracking, and (3) cattle identification. This is a game-changer for wildlife management, cattle farming, and even government border patrol officials working on cattle rustling. This can help a lot.
With Jaguza, AI also assists extension workers and doctors in communicating with farmers directly in their local languages, and it helps farmers market their livestock online, avoiding middlemen. Our patented device even detects a cow’s health before disease manifests. Let’s embrace technology, support African innovations, and extend support to other countries in need. Special thanks to Rev: Ithaca Startup Works and Cornell University for providing us with a great platform during the Summer Hardware accelerator program the Trainning made our dream come true with drone.
