The employment Act provides for every employees to have holiday in every public holiday with full pay.
In instance where the employer wish the employee to work on the public holiday, then the employer has to give the employee holiday with full pay in other day.
And where the employee works on the public holiday, the employee is entitled to receive wages double the amount the employee receives in any other normal day.
However, where the employer pays the employee wages double the amount the employer pays on any other normal day, then the employee is not entitle to a holiday full pay on any other day.
Sofia can work on the public holiday if the employer so wish but the employer has an obligation to pay her double the wages the employer pays her in any other day. Or the employer can agree with Sofia can choose between being paid double more than the amount she receives in any other day, or she can accept to be paid the amount she receives on days not public holiday, and then gets holiday in other day with full wages
