Propagation is from planting the cloves that make up the bulb of the garlic plant.
The following are the ways a Farmer should consider while planting or growing Garlic.
The garlic cloves are planted on raised beds of about one meter wide or on flat land that has been levelled to ensure good drainage. The garlic bulbs are peeled, and the cloves are carefully separated from each other. Choose strong healthy cloves for planting to ensure uniform bulb production.
The cloves are normally spaced 10 cm apart within the rows that are 20 to 30 cm apart, depending on the size of the bulb desired. This should yield between 400 000 and 500 000 garlic bulbs per hectare.
While the ideal planting date varies from one area to another, the general recommendation is from February to May.
Five to six months from planting.
Before planting, work compost into the soil to improve its fertility and structure
Garlic does not need frequent watering. Water it only when the soil is clearly dry. Watering plants produced exclusively at the root. A month before the harvest, the garlic is no longer watered. But w**d bed must be regularly. Garlic is also needed in top dressing (one in spring and one in summer).
