Don't say:

Why: You'll come off cold and dismissive.
✅ Say instead: “Absolutely - let me share how this experience connects to this role.”

Don't say:
❌ “I don’t have leadership experience”
Why: This limits your potential.
✅ Say instead : “While I haven’t had formal leadership roles or positions as per your expected experience , I’ve led projects, mentored teams have worked with and stepped up always where there is no one to take lead when it mattered most.”

Don't say:
❌ “I just followed instructions”
Why: You show lack of initiative & creativity.
✅ Say instead : “I made sure tasks were done right as per company policies and guidelines- and looked for more ways to improve along the way.”

Don't say:
❌ “I'm overqualified for this position."
Why: Shows limited knowledge in u contributions to the company
✅ Say instead:
"I bring a wealth of experience that I believe can add immediate value to this role, and I’m excited about it.

In , what’s your weakness?” Question
Don't say:-
❌ “I don’t have any weaknesses”
Why: You sound dishonest or lack self awareness.
✅ Say instead: “One area or skill I’m working on improving is X,(specific weakness), and I’ve been taking (steps you're taking) to address it and it has made a big difference"

Don't say:
❌ “I work too hard”
Why: You sound like bragging, lacking balance.
✅ Say instead : “I set high standards for myself, and I’ve learned to manage my energy to maintain consistency.”

Don't say:
❌ “I hate being micromanaged”
Why: This can sound defensive.
✅ Say instead: “I thrive with clear goals and trust so am looking for an organization where I can fit with my skills. I'm proactive and keep communication open to ensure alignment.”

Don't say:
❌ “I’m not technical” or am not good in IT (in tech-related roles etc)
Why: This closes doors and shows a fixed mindset.
✅ Say: “I’m not an IT expert, but am a fast learner. I will collaborate well with tech teams to learn n solve any tech challenges that may arise.”

Why: Overused and lacks authenticity
✅ Say Instead: "Am values oriented and always want to maintain high standards while balancing quality and efficiency, in an environment where this is lacking, I find it a challenge"

❌ "I prefer to work alone"
Why: Suggests potential team challenges
✅ Say Instead: "I'm effective independently but
also thrive on collaborating to achieve bigger goals"

Don't say:
❌ "My time management isn’t the best"
Why: Never highlight unfixed weaknesses
✅ Say Instead: "I want to do everything and always finish at once, however, I use
[specific strategy] to stay
organized and meet deadlines and targets consistently".
