OMUKAMA BLOCKED FROM GIVING SPEECH AT THE COMMISSIONING OF THE KAISO-TONYA ROAD MP TOPHAS KAHWA BYAGIRA (WOMAN MP HOIMA) WAS MC OF THE DAY
Wonders will never cease to happen in Bunyoro, this time it was at the commissioning of the Kaiso-Tonya road where the Omukama of Bunyoro His Majesty Rukirabasaija Agutamba Iguru 1 was tactifully denied a chance to air out his views pertaining Bunyoro.

Now it all started when the program was drafted 2 days back ommitting His Majesty from giving his speech, this created a rift between the Kingdom officials and the organisers at the District Level. His Majesty went ahead and instructed his PPS to make the speech and it was duely done.

Now at todays event held along Kaiso Tonya road the MC of the day was Hoima Woman MP Kaahwa Tophas who first suprised every one when the President arrived the Omubiitokati Kaahwa Tophas Byagira introduced every one including the LC 1 in that area but she never mentioned the Prescence of the King nor did she mention that Bunyoro Kingdom Cabinet was present, yet the Omukama was seated next to the President.

More drama unfolded when when she only started thanking the President for the classrooms constructed, feeder roads etc. Now when time was ripe for the Omukama to speak Tophas instead invited Rt.Hon.Kajura to invited the President, Now Kajura being a loyal servant said " Before i invited the President let me Invite the Omukama to say a few words" to this the Omukama came and having been pushed against the wall welcomed the President and People and ofcourse with a little anger requested the President to invite him and share with him his grievances. The crowds were unhappy at the act of denying the Omukama from speaking. One woman was heard speaking in the tent that " If the MPs have failed to do their work let Omukama represent us in Parliament"

In the Omukama's speech we managed to see ourselves His Majesty had asked the President to work on the Kigumba Kyenjojo road, support the University,work on the Buliisa Hoima road, help resolve the land issues in Bunyoro. To be sincere all speakers after speaker amogest the Bunyoro leaders only and only thanked the President. It was only Bishop Nathan Kyamanywa of Bunyoro Kitara Dioecese who tried to highlight on the KK road.

OMUKAMA OLIMI 1 RWITAMAHANGA KALIMBI (Manya Abakama ba Bunyoro series!!)
Olimi succeeded his father, Winyi 1. Because of his courage and bravery Olimi 1 was honored and respected throughout the country. He was addressed as follows; “Olimi Rwitamahanga Omwitabyaro wa Kalimbi (Olimi”, the scourge of nations). During his reign Baganda invaded the Bwiru (Buddu) and Bulemezi sazas of Kitara. Olimi moved against them at the head of his army and at the battle of Mulago defeated and killed Kabaka Nyakibinge. It was a fierce battle and at one time Nyakibinge, being hard pressed, prayed for the assistance of the “embandwa” (spirit) Kibuka (flyer), which was supposed to fight from the clouds. The spirit is said to have killed a Munyoro combatant called Nsembukya, son of Kwezi, with one arrow. Baganda however lost, the battle and for one year the Buganda throne was occupied by a woman called Nanono who acted as a regent. Olimi’s intention was to annex Buganda, thereby restoring it to Kitara, but his ministers and advisors warned him against such a policy other wise to date Buganda would be a Bunyoro territory. “ Do not do such a thing (they admonished him), because one throne should not swallow another. Moreover, Kato, the founder of Buganda, was your relative. An annexation policy may result in the country rising against you. And a curse may descend on you with disastrous consequences” Omukama Olimi was advised by his top confidants.

Omukama Olimi accepted their advice. But having an aggressive spirit, he turned his attention to Nkore. He transfired his capital to Nkore and made his home there. He took pity on the King and spared his life. People of Nkore speak of the great event which happened at this time-how darkness engulfed the world, and how the sun fell from the sky to the ground (But this was not so). The son did not drop onto the ground. The event refers to what Europeans call “Eclipsis Solaris of Solar Eclipse”. This event however filled people’s hears with fear

Olimi reigned for a long time. He was buried in the royal cemetery at Kalimbi in Gomborora (Sub County) of Mutuba in Ssingo. His mother was the lady Nyagiro of the Banywagi Clan

OMUKAMA WINYI 1 RUBEMBEKA NTARA (Manya Abakama ba Bunyoro series!!)
Omukama Oyo was succeeded by his own son Winyi. The new King was of a playful disposition and one day sent a message to the Kabaka of Buganda demanding that porters should be sent to him from Buganda. This may have led to ill feelings between the two separate countries because it was during his reign that Baganda started to annoy the Bakitara in many ways. Indeed on one occasion Kabaka Kaima of Buganda attached Bwakamba son of Mukwiri who was Saza Chief of Bwera. This developed into hostilities between Bakitara and Baganda. Winyi himself led the campaign in defense of Bwiru. It was Winyi, too, who made Omubiito Kaganda,also called Kibi, ruler of Kiziba( but during the reign of of Duhaga 1, Kiziba was to secede from Kitara) Winyi 1 is still remembered in Bwiru, where he had build his capital. The site of that capital is now known as “Winyi’s Village”. It is situated near the Roman Catholic Mission of Kitovu

He also ruled for a long time. When he died his body was taken to Bukidi for burial but the Bakidi people refused to allow lthere territory to be turned into burial grounds for Bakitara Kingdo. His body was therefore brought back and buried in Kiburara in Ssingo. Winyi’s Mother was the Lady Nyaraki of the Mukwonga Clan
